Laurie Brooks

Instructor of Voice and Piano

Laurie Brooks Laurie Brooks M. M. Ed. graduated with a degree in Musical Arts from Johnson University. She completed her Master’s in Music Education from Liberty University and is currently completing her Ph.D. in Music and Worship Studies. She is certified through the Northwest Institute of Voice. She has previously taught voice and piano in her own studio and at The First Academy in Orlando. Currently, she teaches Music Appreciation for Liberty University Online. She also teaches Vocal Pedagogy and Private Voice for Johnson University Florida.

Lauren Brooks

Instructor of Guitar, Bass, Ukulele

Lauran Brooks is a senior at Liberty University, graduating in May 2021. She has majored in Fine Arts and Music. Lauran plays the guitar, the bass, the mandolin, ukulele, and the drums. Lauran has taught these instruments for the past four years. She and her sister are signed with“Little Bird Big Sound Recording Studio.” Their music can be found on iTunes and all music platforms.

Cati Ferguson

Instructor of Piano, Guitar, and Violin

Catheryn (Cati) Ferguson, M.A., has been teaching music in various settings for 13 years. She has made it her life goal to inspire and teach music students of all ages by equipping them with the essential skills to become disciplined, expressive, and creative musicians.

Her love of music started when she was about nine: it started with piano lessons, but then grew to a life filled with music! She has been part of multiple bands, orchestras, traveling choirs, and has studied several instruments to varying levels.

Cati graduated from JUFL in 2015 with a Bachelors of Arts in Bible and Musical Arts, and then from UCF in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Music with a focus in Piano Pedagogy.

​She is currently an Adjunct Professor of Music at Seminole State College where she teaches Music Appreciation and Class Piano (levels 1-4); is a Lecturing Music Professor at Johnson University Florida where she teaches Music Theory Lab (levels 1-4).

Karissa Mead, M.A.

Instructor of Piano, Voice, Guitar, and Ukelele

Karissa has been teaching music lessons for ten years – privately in her own studio as well as through various studios across central Florida. She studied Musical Arts and Bible at Johnson University Florida, then went on to complete her master’s degree at University of Central Florida, with a focus in piano pedagogy. Currently, Karissa serves as the Worship Ministry Director for Englewood Christian Church in Jacksonville, Florida. She also teaches Piano, Voice, Guitar, and Ukulele in her private studio. Her goal as a music instructor is to help her students learn to engage in music at any level – and truly love it!
